On Friday, the application channel for space science and application projects on China’s Space Station officially opened, inviting scientists and experts to conduct research on the Tiangong Space Station, China’s first manned spaceflight project.

To promote the overall development of China’s space science, space application, and space technology, the China Manned Space Engineering Office released guidelines in mid-June, openly soliciting space science and application projects from the general public. The projects fall under four categories: space science and human body research, microgravity physical science, space astronomy and earth science, and new space technologies and applications.

The application channel will be open from July 20 to August 10, with detailed requirements available on the office’s website.

China’s Space Station offers unique advantages, facilities, and capabilities for conducting large-scale space science research. The space station is equipped with scientific experiment cabinets, technical test cabinets, support systems, and an exposure experiment platform, enabling scientific research, technical tests, and applications in various fields.

In recent developments, during the Shenzhou-16 mission, crew members Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu, and Gui Haichao successfully completed all assigned tasks and safely returned to the space research module after their first extravehicular activity (EVA), which lasted about eight hours. The tasks accomplished during the spacewalk included bracket installation, lifting of panorama cameras, and unlocking and lifting of panorama cameras for the Mengtian lab module. The successful execution of these tasks further demonstrates the capabilities and achievements of China’s manned spaceflight program.
